to visit the taberna da rua das flores was a friends recommendation. as we didn’t really know what kind of restaurants he likes, we didn’t know what to expect. it was a surprise – what a surprise!
to find the restaurant is not that easy as it is located in a small street leading into nowhere. when we finally found it we quickly recognized they were fully booked. we entered the taberna anyway – a long narrow space, furnished with old and all different chairs and tables. we were very warm welcomed and told to wait outside for a table to become free if interested. as they don’t take reservations, we decided to wait – with a local beer we briged the gap.
20 minutes later we had our table, hungry and ready to eat. the menu is written on a blackboard and explained by a waiter at the table. all different kinds of meats, fishes and mushrooms – the chef adriano likes mushrooms we were told. 3 different dishes are recommended for sharing, but we took 5. we might overestimated ourselves but almost made it. and let us tell you, every dish was a dream! i guess we need to go back many times, since they have a few different dishes every day.
also worth mentioning the attentive and lovely staff of course. thank you for an awesome time!
definitely a must when in lisbon!
